Rainbow, CTC reupped on 'Winx'

ROME -- Italy's Rainbow Studios and Russian commercial broadcaster CTC have reupped their "Winx Club" deal at Mip TV to include new installments in the hit animated series, now co-produced with Nickelodeon. Deal cements a longstanding rapport that has made "Winx Club" the top TV show for girls in Russia. It comes after Viacom took a recent 30% stake in Rainbow, the toon studio headed by Italian animator Iginio Straffi, who created the six trendy Winx fairies, which are among Europe's top TV exports.
The pact includes series five of "Winx Club," four new "Winx" TV movies, all co-productions with Nickelodeon, and the "PopPixie" series, Rainbow's "Winx" spin-off. CTC will also air Rainbow's made-for-theatrical feature "Winx Club 3D Magical Adventure," released last year in Italy.
